LED Work Lights for Municipal & Refuse Vehicles

LED work and safety lights for refuse trucks and municipal fleets — built for daily stop-start duty.

Common Challenges in Municipal & Refuse Vehicles

Round-the-Clock Duty Cycles

Refuse rounds start before dawn and sweepers run overnight, so a single failed lamp can idle a vehicle and disrupt the whole route plan.

Washdown & Leachate Corrosion

Daily high-pressure washing and corrosive refuse liquids destroy unsealed lights and rust ordinary brackets within months.

Dark Loading Zones

Crews work around bin lifts and compactor hoppers in the dark, where poor lighting puts hands and feet close to moving machinery.

How Tough Lighting Solves It

🛡️

Washdown-Proof Construction

IP67–IP69K sealed housings with potted drivers and stainless-steel brackets survive daily pressure washing and corrosive residue.

One Part Number, Whole Fleet

9–32V DC input covers 12V and 24V chassis alike, so mixed municipal fleets stock a single spare for every vehicle.

Loading-Zone Light Plans

Side, rear, and hopper-area placement schemes put even, glare-controlled light exactly where crews handle bins.

Municipal fleets never really stop. Refuse collection starts hours before sunrise, sweepers and gritters work overnight, and the same vehicles are back on the road for the next shift. On these trucks, lighting is not an accessory — it is a safety and uptime component that decides whether a crew can work and whether the public around the vehicle is protected.

Few vehicle types treat lights as badly as a refuse truck: high-pressure washing at the end of every shift, corrosive leachate splashing the rear end, and constant vibration from the compactor. We supply refuse vehicle manufacturers, municipal fleets, and upfitters with sealed LED work and warning lights built for exactly this duty.

Where to place lights on a refuse vehicle

A typical plan covers four zones: cab-mounted work lights for the road and approach area, side-mounted lights over the bin-lift mechanism so loaders can see latches and pinch points, flood lighting over the rear hopper and loading step, and amber warning beacons visible through 360°. Our truck and trailer lights cover the marker and warning duties, while sealed LED work lights handle the side and loading areas.

Specifications that matter in municipal service

  • IP67–IP69K sealing with potted drivers — Housings and electronics rated for daily high-pressure, high-temperature washdown and constant exposure to refuse liquids.
  • 9–32V DC input — One part number across 12V and 24V chassis, tolerant of the voltage transients of compactor hydraulics and long harness runs.
  • Stainless-steel brackets — Mounting hardware that survives the corrosion cycle of washdown, road salt, and leachate.

Co-development with vehicle manufacturers

Beyond the catalogue, we work directly with vehicle builders. We have co-developed lights with refuse vehicle manufacturers — starting from the mounting envelope and electrical spec, through design and prototypes, to production tooling and series supply. If your platform needs a lamp that does not exist yet, ask about our custom light development for vehicle manufacturers.

Wholesale and fleet supply

We supply from 60 pieces per model with 15–25 working day lead times, and samples of 1–5 units for on-vehicle trials before a fleet rollout. CE and E-Mark documentation is available for European municipal tenders, with EMC suppression to CISPR 25 across the range. Send us your vehicle list or build sheet and we will quote a lighting plan position by position.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will daily high-pressure washing get water into the lights?

No — IP69K-rated models are sealed specifically against high-pressure, high-temperature washdown, and the drivers are fully potted in resin. Stainless-steel brackets resist the corrosion that washing accelerates. Send us your washdown routine and we will confirm the right rating for each mounting position.

Can we use the same part number on 12V and 24V chassis?

Yes. All models accept 9–32V DC, so one part number serves both 12V light-duty and 24V heavy-duty chassis in a mixed fleet. Share your vehicle list and we will map a single stock line across it.

Can you develop a light specific to our vehicle model?

Yes — we have co-developed lights with refuse vehicle manufacturers, taking projects from design and prototypes through to production tooling. Contact us with your mounting envelope and electrical spec to discuss an OEM development.

How should a side-loader be lit for pre-dawn collection?

Put the light where crew and lift arm meet: a flood above the loading aperture, one covering the kerbside approach, and a rear unit for reversing in narrow lanes. Aim beams down onto bins, not outward at house windows — the LED work light range covers all three positions.

Can work lights stay on while driving between stops?

Generally not in normal traffic — ECE-market rules require work lamps off while driving on public roads, though many authorities treat slow kerbside collection itself as working, not driving. Confirm your local code; our vehicle lighting certifications guide maps the approval landscape.

Can you support a municipal tender with documentation and trials?

Yes — we routinely supply the paperwork tenders ask for: CE and E-Mark certificates, IP test ratings, and warranty terms, plus 1–5 day samples so one vehicle can run a trial round before award. Request a quote referencing your tender deadline.
