Heated Lens (De-icing LED Lights)

A heated-lens LED light has a transparent heating element laminated onto the lens that melts snow and ice — solving the problem that efficient LEDs, unlike halogens, produce too little waste heat to keep their own lens clear.

Halogen lamps kept themselves clear of snow by accident: 80 % of their power was waste heat. LEDs are efficient enough that a snow-plow’s forward lights can bury themselves in slush mid-route. A heated lens restores the melting function deliberately, drawing power only when the lens temperature drops.

How it works

A conductive transparent layer warms the lens surface — typically activating automatically below around 5 °C. The machine cannot stop mid-route for the operator to climb down and scrape a lens, so the de-icing runs unattended.

Who needs it

Snow plows, spreaders, municipal fleets and any machine on winter-service duty. Sheltered rear or cab locations often manage without heating; forward-facing lamps take the full snow load and benefit most. See our heated LED lights range, including ECE-approved heated plow headlights.
